What exactly is Nutrition+Wellness Coaching? I help people build habits and practices that lead to improved health, body composition, and self confidence. While I have a deep understanding of nutrition and exercise science, my job is about more than macro ratios and squats. It's about the person in front of me. How you think. How you feel. How you live. Why you have the habits you do. In other words, effective coaching has more to do with behavior change psychology than it does with nutrition or exercise science. As a nutrition+wellness coach, I: - help you clarify your health, nutrition, and/or fitness priorities, values, and goals - work with you to identify skills, practices, and sustainable daily actions for achieving those goals - educate you on the science behind why you're doing what you're doing - support you every step of the way. FAQs: Will you make me follow a special diet? Firstly, I don't make you do anything. Secondly, the simple answer is no. There is a ton of misinformation out there so we start with education and focus on nourishment. We make sure you have a plan you, most importantly, understand the science behind and secondly, feel like you can actually sustain.
Is coaching like therapy? While coaching can FEEL "therapeutic," it is NOT a replacement for therapy. The simplest way I can describe it: coaching is exploring where you want to go and therapy is exploring where you've been. Referrals will always be made for mental health services if/whenwarranted.
What's the difference between a Nutrition Coach and a Registered Dietitian? Registered dietitians (RDN's) undergo more education and training than nutrition coaches do—and this extra training qualifies them to do medical nutritional therapy. They usually work in a medical or hospital setting, in conjunction with other healthcare professionals. If you have a specific medical diagnosis requiring specialized nutrition therapy, that is outside of my scope of practice and you will be referred.
